Another Greek Triumph: 3 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal

Another Greek Triumph: 3 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal for Kalamaki Nautical Club at the Junior 420 European Championship

The Junior European Championship for the 470 and 420 classes concluded on Monday afternoon in Nida, Lithuania, with another outstanding success for Greek sailing. Following their remarkable performance at the World Championship just two weeks ago, the crews of Kalamaki Nautical Club (NOK) once again confirmed their dominance on the international stage, bringing home a total of four medals for Greece: three gold and one bronze.

Fresh from winning the World Championship, Iasonas Panagopoulos and Fervonia Bouzana were crowned European Champions in the 420 U19 Mixed category. They also retained the overall lead with an impressive display of consistency, finishing with just 35 penalty points after claiming six victories in 12 races. Their closest rivals, fellow Greek sailors Tourni and Zaponidis, finished second overall with 60 points.

World Championship silver medallists Marianna Makri and Veselina Troskou went one step further this time, securing the gold medal in the U17 Women's category with four race victories.

Completing Greece's golden treble were Filippos Portosalte and Andreas Psomiadis, who claimed first place in the U17 category.

Another Greek crew, Odysseas Detsis and Nikos Dravilas, will return home on Tuesday with the bronze medal, having finished third in the U17 category.

The outstanding performances of the Kalamaki Nautical Club sailors at both the World and European Championships are a testament to the systematic and dedicated work being carried out within the Club. This success is even more remarkable considering that the Club's racing programme was launched only last August.

A key role in the team's achievements at the European Championship in Lithuania was played by coaches Dimitris Lekakis and Dimitris Psomiadis, whose guidance once again proved invaluable.

The President of Kalamaki Nautical Club, George Christopoulos, together with the Club's Board of Directors, extends its warmest congratulations to the entire team and coaching staff for their exceptional performances and outstanding achievements at the European Championship.
