An international sailing event promoting peace, diplomacy, and the future of the America's Cup
Cyprus Yachting Magazine is proud to announce its participation as an Official Media Sponsor of the Regatta for Peace 2026, a prestigious international sailing event that will take place on 17 October 2026, bringing together sailors, institutions, and industry leaders from across Europe and the Mediterranean.
Organised by the Embassy of Italy in Cyprus as part of its Sports Diplomacy initiatives, the Regatta for Peace aims to demonstrate the power of sport in fostering peace, friendship, and cooperation among nations while also launching the European roadshow leading to the 37th America's Cup, which will be hosted in Naples, Italy, in July 2027.
Sailing for Peace
The regatta will begin at Larnaca Marina at approximately 12:00 noon, with participating yachts sailing the scenic 16-nautical-mile course to Ayia Napa Marina, where they are expected to arrive after approximately three to four hours, depending on weather conditions.
The race is open to yachts competing under both ORC International and ORC Light ratings, allowing a broad range of sailing teams from Cyprus and abroad to participate.
More Than a Sailing Race
Following the race, Ayia Napa Marina will host a series of high-profile events celebrating sailing, innovation, and international cooperation.
Visitors and participants will have the opportunity to attend presentations by distinguished speakers from the sailing industry, representatives of the America's Cup organisation, institutional officials, and leading figures from the maritime sector.
The programme will also feature:
- The screening of exclusive teasers from the documentary series Terra Maris.
- The official presentation of the book 100 Italian Stories of Sailing and the Sea.
- An immersive virtual reality experience showcasing the future of sailing and the America's Cup.
- The official Regatta Awards Ceremony honouring the winning crews.
Maritime Exhibition Open to the Public
A dedicated exhibition area will be established outside the Ayia Napa Marina Conference Centre, featuring companies and organisations involved in:
- Recreational boating and yacht building
- Marine tourism
- Blue economy research and innovation
- Marine technology
- Sailing equipment and sportswear
- Food and lifestyle products
The exhibition will be open to the public, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore the latest developments in the maritime industry while meeting professionals from Cyprus and abroad.
