Italian yard Sanlorenzo has debuted its 27.4 metre SD90 model at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
The semi-displacement superyacht made its debut on the water at an exclusive event, where she was joined by the new SP110 and two new models from sister shipyard Bluegame.
The SD90 is the entry-level addition to the SD range, building on the success of existing models including the SD96 and SD118. Key differences include a flexible configuration, optimised hull design and careful consideration of material choice to produce a more sustainable result.
The new flybridge model has been designed by Zuccon International with Philippe Briand also contributing to the research into the yacht’s efficient design.
Interiors are by Patricia Urquiola, who has worked on both of the existing SD models. "Having designed the first two boats in the SD line, I really loved the fact that we went back to a smaller size instead of a larger volume," she said. "The design is very complex, inside you find something deeply technological alongside something deeply artisanal."
The layout of the model allows for a large saloon with both a lounge area and dining space, with tables that can be adjusted according to their function. The lower deck demonstrates further flexibility, with a second lounge that can be closed off to create an additional cabin. The bow area also offers a choice of configurations to cater to the needs of different owners.
Sustainable design features include panelling made from recycled paper on the lower deck and recycled glass that forms a translucent filter on the aft.
Meanwhile, every appliance on board has been meticulously chosen for the highest quality and lowest consumption, including specialised materials for reducing electric load.
On the exterior, the yacht features one-way glazing that allows the windows on the main deck and lower deck to remain concealed, resulting in a more "harmonious" look, according to the yard.
Speaking about the project, Bernardo Zuccon said: "The world of navettes is fascinating, as romantic as it is complex, because it is linked to a person who chooses to live at sea for a considerable amount of time, for whom time is not a limitation but a luxury, and for this reason, they need spaces and opportunities that are often greater than those of boats of the same size but typologically different."
Depending on the propulsion package, the SD90 will be able to reach top speeds of 17 knots with a fuel capacity of 13,000 litres.
