On Sunday, the 21st of September 2014, the Famagusta Nautical Club (NOA) paid tribute to Navy Commander, Commodore Andreas Ioannides, who died during the tragic explosion at Mari.
The «Ioannideia» race was organised in his memory and has been established as an annual event with participation from all over Cyprus and beyond. On the day of his heroic sacrifice, Andreas Ioannides was the Vice-President of the Famagusta Nautical Club.
Followed by speeches, an official ceremony and awards, the «Ioannideia 2014» included off-shore sailing regattas, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, rowing and SUP races. Limassol Marina was a partner on this initiative for the second consecutive year, providing berths, facilities and operational assistance to all participants.
