The planning permission of the visionary project has been issued and construction work is expected to begin in 2015.
For a resort-jewel of the eastern Mediterranean speak the investors of Makronisos Marina in Ayia Napa. Luxury villas and apartments, abundant green areas, sports facilities, swimming pools, squares, restaurants, leisure parks, cafes, boutiques, shops, heliport and yacht club planned to erect in a safe environment. The planning permission of the visionary project has been issued and construction work is expected to begin in 2015. The entire project will cost around 220 million euros and the first phase expected to be completed towards the end of 2018.
The contract for the design, construction, financing, operation and transfer of the marina has become the consortium M . M . Makronisos Marina Ltd by the Ministry of Commerce after competition. The lease, which was signed on April 27, 2012, is valid 53 years. It is an investment of the Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris, in cooperation with the company Caramondanis.
Yachting
As stated in the «Cyprus Yachting Magazine» CEO consortium, Stavros Caramondanis, will be offered to yacht owners the best possible facilities and amenities both on land and at sea. There will be 480 berths for boats from 6m to 60m (mega yachts) and in specific area will offer maintenance and repair services, as well as hosting additional 230 boats. Lifting Services and boat launch with a special crane of 200 tons will also be available.
Residential development
The residential development will be as unique and exceptional, with the latest generation technology and architecture art satisfying the needs and preferences of today's discerning buyers. The choice of real estate will consist of approximately 30 luxury houses and about 220 modern apartments. All properties will have unobstructed views of the Mediterranean Sea.
A striking at area shopping center, semicircle design, 5,000m2, will surround a space that will simulate a “fishing shelter’’ of a Greek island and will provide guests with a choice of restaurants, cafes, boutiques, entertainment, etc.
Social and economic benefits
As stated by Mr. Caramondanis, social and economic benefits are many. Among the many positive effects is to create many new jobs, as major direct and indirect revenues to the State (income taxes, VAT, leases, stamp duties, registration fees, etc.), attracting new and quality tourism with parallel euro million income for the whole economy and great psychological benefit to be derived from the start of such a large project in this difficult period for Cyprus. In addition, the marina will be an official port of entry into the Republic, with Customs, Police, Veterinary and Medical Services.
"During the three years of the project construction is estimated that 800 people will be employed every day, while most of the people who will be employed will be local. After completion of the project is estimated that 25-35 people will be employed by the Management of marina as permanent staff for the operation of the marina. An additional number of people, beyond the 150, will be recruited by professionals who will work in the Marina commercial facilities, e.g. restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques, shops, service vessels in the marina and support services (motor boats, repairs etc.). Furthermore, parallel jobs outside the marina will be generated due to cooperations. During the lifetime of the project, will also bring very large indirect revenue for the state, the long-term lease of real estate, commercial activities and operation of the marina."
