Green light for Paphos marina
"The Paphos marina is the largest project under development in Cyprus and one of the largest in the Mediterranean", said the responsible project design, Civil Engineer Aris Sophocleous, to CYPRUS YACHTING MAGAZINE.
According to Mr. Sophocleous, the overall project will be developed on 155,000 sq.m. land on land and 160,000 square on marine area. It will has a capacity of 1000 seats, including Mega- Yachts and all the necessary services (shipyard, hauling - launching, etc.).
Basic and special element that characterizes this project from other similar projects is that overall residential development, other than the hotel, it is within the sea in artificial islands that will be created. "Even the main breakwater will accommodate residential development", said Mr. Sophocleous. Would also there are 15 floating restaurants, where access will be via pier or with traditional boats.
"The project integrates the design of all modern concepts of energy planning which even include the energy recovery from the waves of the sea. Alongside the marina aspires to be classified between the list of marinas with blue flag, which is an important distinction", noted the project planner.
"The project is aimed to approach high-level investors expecting the overall improvement of the tourism product of Paphos and Cyprus in general. The procedural works of the project are in their final stage and the contract between the state and the consortium POSEIDON GRAND MARINA OF PAPHOS expected to be signed in the coming days".
The shareholders of the consortium are the companies: ARISTO DEVELOPERS PLC, CONSTANTINOU BROS HOTELS PUBLIC CO. LTD, IACOVOU BROTHERS LTD, TOTOTHEO TRADING LTD, SALAMIS TOURS, J. ARISTODEMOU IDEAL HOMES LTD, MAISPA CONSTRUCTIONS AND LAND DEVELOPMENT LTD, C.A.C.PAPANTONIOU PUBLIC COMPANY LTD, Z&X MECHANICAL INSTALLATIONS LTD, KYRIACOS DROUSIOTIS.
"The works expected to be completed in terms of marine area in three years and in five years in depth will be in full growth", said Mr. Sophocleous.
