Superyacht builder Nobiskrug has announced the keel laying of a new 80m project. The German shipyard celebrated the milestone at its premises in Kiel.
In a ceremony attended by guests and the yard’s team, an 80-ton block section was lifted by crane into the building shed. The construction of all sections up to assembly of the complete hull will take place in the shedes of the yard under controlled climate conditions.
Nobiskurg operates a 900t gantry-crane that serves all sheds through the roofs as well as all gravity docks on the Kiel site, the longest dock measures 426m.
The German shipyard says this is the first project to benefit from another recent investments, including a state-of-the-art plasma cutting machine worth nearly €1m, adding complementary to the existing cutting machines.
“This happy oaccaion indicates the start of the hull assembly of the superyacht, when, for the first time she is considered to have a soul. It is also a traditional ceremony to bring fortune to a vessel during her construction and her captain, guests and crew during her life”, says Holger Kahl, managing director.
