Rosetti Superyachts has celebrated the keel laying ceremony on its first ever superyacht.
Rosetti Superyachts has celebrated the keel laying ceremony on its first ever superyacht.

The ceremony, which sees a coin placed beneath the keel, took place on May 9 at the shipyard in Ravenna in Italy and was attended by the owner, shipyard representatives and Hydro Tec's Sergio Cutolo.

The yard has celebrated the keel laying ceremony on the explorer, which traditionally marks the beginning of construction

It comes after the yard announced the sale of the 38 metre steel hulled explorer superyacht in December last year.

Designed by Hydro Tec, the yacht is being built at the San Vitale shipyard in Ravenna and has a scheduled delivery of 24 months from the start of construction.

The yard has also released the first rendering of the yacht and revealed that the sub-400GT explorer will have a beam measuring 8.85 metres.

Chief executive of Rosetti Fulvio Dodich said celebrating the yard's first keel laying was a "proud" moment.

“This is a first important step for the new project that is coming to life and gives value to the even larger project that is Rosetti Superyachts, in which I have believed passionately since its inception," he added.

Sergio Cutolo added: "The first RSY Explorer was born from a Hydro Tec project and from the wishes of the owners who followed us step by step, creating a graceful boat with a strong personality.”

Other designs on Rosetti’s drawing board include a 48 and 85 metre support vessel designed by Tommaso Spadolini and a 52 metre supply vessel, which was unveiled earlier this year at the Monaco Yacht Show.
