Forward-thinking yacht co-ownership company, Meros Yachtsharing has made its presence felt at this year’s boot Düsseldorf yacht show with its exhibition of the latest addition to its growing fleet: a brand new and highly customised Sunseeker Meros Signature 95 which will be available for the upcoming yachting season.
This brings the number of head-turning Sunseeker yachts in Meros’ fleet to three, comprising two Sunseeker 95s and one slightly smaller, but perfectly formed Sunseeker 86. The yacht was presented at the internationally-respected boat show by brand ambassador and keen Meros member, BWT Alpine F1 driver Esteban Ocon, who comments: “I believe Meros’ model offers a truly sustainable and innovative way of opening up the fantastic experiences of yachting to a wider range of people. In between my busy racing schedule, I’m looking forward to spending time on this or any of the other Meros yachts in their various locations.”
The customisations on board the Sunseeker Meros Signature 95 include the modification of her bow to create a sheltered forward area for guests to enjoy, a total refresh of her paintwork to produce a cleaner, sportier and more modern finish, and the reconfiguration of her flybridge to make room for a bespoke spa bath, crane, jetski and generous entertaining space with heated seats and a BBQ.
Founded in 2019 by a successful German entrepreneur and experienced yacht owner, Meros presents a clear alternative to sole yacht ownership, whilst also standing alone as a unique option to have an all encompassing experience without the premium in cost. In its yacht-sharing model, the costs are shared in parallel to usage, thus providing a far more sustainable and affordable set-up than traditional ownership, as well as maximising the use of larger vessels.
Currently operating in Germany, Spain (the Balearic Islands), Malta and soon in the UK, the company also boasts the accolades of being the exclusive contractual partners and sole providers of a co-ownership model for Sunseeker superyachts in Europe. As for the company’s growth so far, Managing Director Georg Oehme is effusive: “At Meros, we have enjoyed growth every year since our foundation – which is a testament both to our incredible team, and to the demand in the industry for what we have to offer. The launch of our second boat in 12 months is a clear sign of our success.”
He continues: “Naturally, however, growth must be responsible, which is why we are always so environmentally conscious as a company. We have an increasing capacity to use HVO-100 fuel across all of our new yachts, working alongside Repsol for distribution and MTU Rolls Royce for research and development.”
The boats available through Meros’ Flexshare co-ownership model will cover 10 yachting hotspot locations spanning Mallorca to Sardinia, to France, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, and Dubai, with clients able to purchase a share and then enjoy a certain number of weeks in their desired locations. “In short, one share takes you anywhere with the Meros fleet,” said Oehme. Participants can say goodbye to the typical hassle of bookings and unpredictable crew which can be associated with traditional charter experiences and enjoy true peace of mind out at sea. Also, sea toys are included as well as yacht management.
The highly flexible Flexshare model involves the use of any of the Flexshare fleet by several co-owners. The Meros concierge which is associated with this model offers its members and co-owners exclusive invites and access to some of the world’s most desirable events – such as the F1 Monaco Grand Prix – alongside exclusive benefits from partners, such as Netjets and Thirdhome. Following its success in the Western Mediterranean last year, Flexshare is set to expand into the Eastern Mediterranean and the UAE.
In addition to that, the company’s Quarter model entails a more classic ownership structure which honours tradition, and is currently only available on the Sunseeker 86 yacht. The Quarter share model is equal to having a 25 percent stake, with owners enjoying direct ownership of a privately registered vessel. Encompassing far more than simple asset management, Meros’ expert team supports and manages all communication and crew for the vessel to guarantee a smooth and enjoyable onboard experience for those involved.
Regardless of which model is chosen, guests on board any of Meros’ yachts will benefit from a captain, deckhand, stewardess and first-class personal chef who will ensure that service, catering and the itinerary are managed to the highest possible standards.
