AB Yachts just proved good things most definitely come in threes.
The Italian yard, which specializes in sporty yachts ranging from 80 feet to 150 feet, delivered the third AB 80 on April 18. Spanning 83 feet, the newcomer combines state-of-the-art tech with aerodynamic design and high-end finishes. As AB puts it, the yacht is “a real Formula 1 car of the seas.”
Designed for overnight family trips or high-octane joyrides, the AB 80 showcases sleek, sporty lines and a silver composite hull. Powered by three MAN V-12 engines capable of producing 2,000 horses each, the speedster can reach more than 55 knots at full tilt or cruise at a leisurely 45 knots for up to 500 nautical miles. The vessel also offers exceptional maneuverability and efficiency, according to AB.
No waters are off limits, either. The AB 80 has a shallow draft of just over four feet and a Seakeeper 18 stabilizer, meaning it can smoothly traverse shallow waters. On top of that, the yacht can be easily operated by the owner or an experienced captain. “Easy to use and operate for family holidays and long cruises, but also the perfect luxury day boat to get wherever you desire and discover new places with extremely reduced cruising times,” AB said in a statement.
Seafarers will be cruising in the lap of luxury, too. With a beam of nearly 22 feet, the AB 80 offers a generous interior for its size. Starting on the main deck, the light and airy salon, described as a “loft on the sea” by AB, features doors that open directly to the aft cockpit to create a huge, indoor-outdoor entertaining space. The main deck is also home to a galley that can transform into a bar thanks to a clever opening system, AB says.
The lower deck is outfitted with four generous cabins that can sleep up to nine guests and a swanky day head for seafarers. Further forward, the crew quarters in the bow can accommodate two crew. The lower deck can also hold two tenders.
The go-fast AB 80 is currently docked next to the soon-to-be-delivered AB 100 at the AB quay in Viareggio. The 101-footer, which is currently undergoing final sea trials, will be capable of hitting a blistering 59 knots and can welcome up to 10 guests. More information on the AB 100 will follow soon.
