She is the result of the cooperation of the historic Riva shipyard
and Marc Newson, the renowned designer.
An explosive designing approach on the lines and hull of a
model which was associated right from the outset with high
aesthetics and elegance. The lines, shipwright’s geometry,
performance, reliability and finishings react to time in the same
manner: they are always up-to-date.
Holding events at Gagosian Gallery, USA, and the most
demanding catwalk, Monaco Yacht Show in Europe, the yacht
builders presented the new model. Aquariva is probably the
most commonly featured boat in the history of boatbuilding
with the greatest number of “wanna-be” copies produced by
“competitors”. Officina Ιtaliana Design, the technical office of
Riva Yachts, built a mere 22 numbered yachts created by the
Australian Marc Newson and bearing his name.
The Boat
This ultimate day cruiser has an overall length of 10.07 metres
and a 2.80-metre beam. Her narrow and fine silhouette offers
top performance while her efficient hull warrants smooth
rides. Powered by Yanmar and reaching a total of 380 HP, the
yacht reaches 36 knots at cruising speed and a top speed of 41
knots. According to the shipyard’s test results, her range is 150
nautical miles which is pretty satisfying considering her size and
category.
This is a combination of classic and modern design, a perfectly
accurate mix. Without any touting and talking big, the designer
and the yacht builders delivered calmly and with a sort of muzzled snobbery a sense of balanced luxury. In terms of space, this yacht follows strictly the lines of her predecessors with the aft featuring a large sun deck, the centre hosting a comfy sofa with a snack and drinks dinette and the helm station at the bow with easy-to-read car-like instruments.
The entire deck is uniform, the eyes move from the aft to the fore without stopping on any obstacle. A great job has also been done
with the mix of materials and the colour palette.
