A series of events promoting the arts in Cyprus launched at Limassol Marina last night, in the presence of the unassuming residents and visitors eating their dinner or strolling along the promenade. The renowned Greek composer and singer, Stephanos Korkolis, together with the young and talented singer Sophia Manousaki, enchanted everyone around them in an open-air performance in the project’s square.
“Arts in the Square” provides a platform for performances of a diverse range, giving local talent and visiting artists an opportunity to gain exposure whilst entertaining the passing crowds in a unique environment. Limassol Marina’s Marketing and PR Manager, Sophia Paraskeva, expressed her enthusiasm for this new addition to the development’s calendar of activities, explaining that the initiative aims to support local artistic creativity, offering a dynamic often found in other European cities. Integral to the cultural development of local communities and their tourism, she added: “Our square is the new heart of Limassol- we wanted to offer something alternative, to encourage artistic ideas and create a memorable experience for our visitors.”
This summer, following a successful year of property sales and yacht arrivals, the waterfront development opened its gates to the public and has been welcoming approximately 4,000 visitors per day. Restaurants, cafes, bars, the spa and fitness club, the cultural centre and the car park are already operating, while the shops and elegant boutiques are continuing to open in phases.
