Alexandros Pallis, Minoas Angelidakis, and Sotiris Ragousis (Paros Yacht Club) returned from Finland on Saturday afternoon with the silver medal in their luggage. The Greek champions from the Kalamaki Yacht Club climbed to the second step of the podium at the Youth Lightning World Championship, which was hosted at Lake Tuusula (30 kilometers from Helsinki), sending a strong message about their future.
In fact, until the penultimate day of the races, the Greek crew held the 1st place in the standings. However, they lost ground during the final two races, and the gold medal went to the crew from Canada. "We are thrilled to win this medal. We had never raced on a lake before, but we made it. It was only the third time we sailed on this type of boat, and everything went perfectly with the help of our coach, Panagiotis Verginiadis," emphasized the "captain" of the National team crew, Alexandros Pallis. "We dedicate this medal to our families, our coach, and everyone who believed in us," concluded the Kalamaki Yacht Club sailor.
